Toddy ...... I'm probably over Loomis rods (love their blanks) disappointed with the build ............. Loomis could certainly take a leaf out of LCs book when it comes to quality & build

The Hot Dog is very similar to an S10. I like my S4 for Barra. The Power Junkie is somewhere in between. I use it for Bass and Barra, a very versatile rod.

    Dale,

Have you tried, or do you own a S6??

I just bought one the other day for lighter presentations, point casting, frogs etc, similar to what Chris has been chasing. I must say I am more than impressed with it...actually I love it. I am yet to catch a fish, but I loaded it up on a long range snag and it feels very powerful!! I cant wait to give it another run, and this time land a fish. I honestly think its a more suited barra spin rod than the Bear S10 I have so far in testing. Though the Bear S10 is tried and tested....many times, and has the runs on the board. With the big fish, I feel the safest S10'ing for now!!!

Chris, Yep I like that combo of yours after having a good play with in the camp kitchen the other night. As you know, the better the quality rod, the lighter it can be to handle bigger loads...if that makes sense. I was not suprised when you landed the fish you and Brian have.

Thanks Dale ....... you've pretty well confirmed what I thought of it - Actually ...There are quite a few rods that fall in that genre ( Daiwa do several) - Samurai Reaction , Pflueger Supreme etc

    Hi Steve

The one thing that has come out of this exercise is that , you dont need stump pullers to target impoundment barra - infact once you go down to some more specialised or finesse techniques those traditional barra spin rods just dont cut it as a delivery tool ....... the S10 is a prime example ( a great barra spin rod .... used in a traditional role ) ....... your example of using a S6 - goes to show this.
Dale using a Steez power junkie , Brian using a LC Reaction tube .... just show some progression to using lighter rods for barra ....... not only can you handle barra , but you get the advantage of using outfits that are user friendly too

I reckon more & more barra fishoes will venture down this path.

as for the LC Reaction tube - there is clearly enough there in such a fine tipped rod to get the job done.
