    Marlin caught in a creek

    http://www.themorningbulletin.com.au...-caught-creek/

A MARLIN has been caught in an estuary system near Emu Park on the Capricorn Coast.
The capture has astonished the fishing community as marlin inhabit the open ocean, usually offshore.
This fish was caught at Fishing Creek a week or two ago.
A couple of men fishing at the mouth of the creek saw what they thought was a shark take off and chase something.
They later found it thrashing around in the mangroves (it got caught in the shallows).
They couldn't get it to deep water to free it alive, so they took this photo.
It has come to light that some other anglers had previously been fishing at Flat Rock, off the Capricorn Coast, when they hooked and fought a marlin for about one-and-a-half-hours.
They lost it at the side of the boat, after attempting to gaff it.
It could be the same fish because it was reportedly around the same size.
The story has been confirmed by a very reputable source.
Do you know more information about this amazing catch?

    Dan

Bill Sawynok sent me the pic last week after I did last Fridays Column
I checked it out and found it to be true so it went in today

it was in Fishing creek in Corio Bay and the strange thing is that over the years I have caught doggies and tuna standing on the mangroves in the same creek

Took the boss for a drive to show her Corio Ck & Kelly's landing. On the way home detoured into fishing ck for a look & got a shock to see a black marlin hanging in a tree. I understood that they caught it outside but by the slightly battered look thought that it might have died & been bought in on the big tides. Mystery solved now. Still awesome sight as the only previous black I had seen was in Cairns in the70's. Knew they were out there & would have given almost anything to hook one.
