land based barra & tarpon
Yesterday I gave Ron a call to say I was keen on a barra bash at a little well fished spot near cungulla that we know of he was keen so the off we went to find 2 people there already but no probs we flogged the water to death away from them. With the tide still pushing in things were a little slow but we new that would change and change it did just on sun set our 2 fishing mates departed to leave Ron and I to watch skittish bait getting boofed after boofed everywhere. We were using surface lures but I got a little bored and changed over to a little gold bomber only to score a little 61cm barra after a few/40 casts the little bugger almost got away but some how I got him out of the snag to Ron with the waiting bogas and a photo. After the light finally disappeared I changed back to a surface lure (had nothing to do with Ron missing 2 fish) in the next half hour we both seen enough boofs and strikes (mainly Ron) to get a little annoyed but I finally stayed connected to a little tarpon (first for that spot) casting out in the middle of no where a photo and he was off like nothing happened. A little later maybe 10 cast latter Ron stays connected to a nice 73 cm barra muscled(keep their head up and they cant get you) out of some very very hairy structure to me with the bogas and camera. After another 10 mins of watching fish and not getting them we decided to head for home leaven the fish boofin and the mozzies/midges bitin (if you head that way have lots of spray)
Have a good one

Nice fish, sounds like a top little session you had there.
Cheers, Andrew.
