    Brissie River Music

    Hey all

Was out yesterday afternoon on the river, plan was to look for a few bream and then on dusk have a look for some squire on deep plastics down towards the mouth.

NE breeze was quite stiff thru until after dark so stayed up river, and started off in the shallows cranking beside a rockwall with a Daiwa KP Crank.

Tide was getting too low but managed a couple of tiddler bream, and then my little Exceller started singing a song it had never done before , after having seen a shower of baitfish and cast past the area, 4 lb fluro was running off at a great rate of knots in 2 foot of water, and after a battle of 5 mins or so i had a nice trevally in the boat.

Having run out of water now, i switched to some steep rock walls in behind docks and having lost my plastic, grabbed the HB rod armed with a deep chubby, first cast to the base of a pylon was smashed by a 26cm fork length bream.

I had drifted further down the wall and the next dozen casts were a hit or fish (bream) a cast, the fish congregated at the base of the rocks with 3/4 tide out and dusk near. During this hot bite the water police dropped by to check the safety gear, i would not have minded checking out the safety gear on the very attractive female constable on board but she was interrupting.....

Few casts later in tight to a large rock and my lure was grabbed by something solid, if it was a bream it was very big, slugging it out down deep more like a big cod or a flathead. Every time i got the fish up to near the boat it took me back to the bottom, i felt one treble pull, and then as i worked the fish back to the surface the second hook pulled and so begins "the one that got away" story......

Lost my $25 lure after being smashed and dragged into a snag soon after, and it was all over, but nothing ventured nothing gained it seems. Still windy and on dark i ditched the squire plan and went home, keen for a rematch on the bream (and the cod) next time......

Dodgy auto timer pic of the TREV but better than nothing.

    Cheers

    Mick.

Was heaps of fun, but I think the 6lb braid may get a run in the structure next time !!

    Mick,

Good to meet you at the ramp, and thanks for the helping hand. Unfortunately our experiment to repeat the fishing we get during the day during the night failed. Ended up with 2 each of flathead, moses perch and squire. The only decent fish was a flathead in the 50s.

    Cheers,
    Simon

    Hey Simon

At least you got onto a few of something, the variety in the river is brilliant and makes up for the occasional "donut" on the target species!

I have found dusk to be cod time on a run out tide on a few occasions now, like jacks they move out of their little caves a little.

Good work mickthe, can be a productive area where you were fishing and you will get squire in the same area, Love those Trevs on the light string. Cheers

    Nice work mate.

    Well done.

What exactly did the police look for and what did they want to see?

Did they ask if you had a whistle or horn onboard?

    Cheers
