    Brissy River Saturdays

Got to the boat ramp at about 5ish launched the boat after seven weeks without a boat trip I was keen to make up for the last effort of fouling my plugs and a no start.

So headed off to the usual haunt and drifted a few times and it was a little quiet, my mate gets himself on to a nice flathead just under 50cm, thinking to myself I need a fish. Not a touch for a while so I head off to look in another spot.

Drifted the rockwall and was starting to look good, a few well placed casts and my plastic is smashed not far from the surface as the water breaks and the line screams..... I am on to what i thought was a nice squire but closer to the boat she's all silver this is a nice bream, abit of play on 4lb and she is on the boat @ 39cm from tip to mouth.

Not long after a few more drifts and bang the line is smashed, not as much shake but plenty of weight, a steady reel in and its a nice EC @ 32cm. A few more casts and I raise another EC @ 38cm's. One more close to the rockwall and bam I am hit and it screams off I try to slow it down but it has taken me into the rocks, move the boat over trying to coax the fish out but no I am rubbed off on the rocks. Oh well....

A few more drifts as we are getting excited and my mate gets another flatty @ 42cm, I get a few more hits and loose some plastics to the rocks. My mate gets another flatty and this one is abit bigger I,d say around the 55+ we both are like crap.. 8lb leader LoL, she shakes her head and gone..... Few more casts and no touches, call it a day and home by 10am. Sorry for the ramble its been soooooo long.

Couldn't be happier, I nearly forgot what it felt like to land a nice bream. Was all on the 3" grubs fished right up to the rocks. Great morning on the river :-)

Good on ya mate, nice mixed bag. Good to get out before a bit of rain, it can get the fish on the bite before the water gets dirty and feeding gets that little bit harder for them. Nice effort

    chief, thanks
Its such a great place to fish for me, so much variety. Do you tend to find that the river fishes abit better before a rain?
    cheers.

Yeh we've had a few Hot cracker sessions and within 24 hrs there;s been a big wet and flooding. they would have to sense that the change about to happen. I supose to them it means increased current ,fresh water and poor visibilty and maybe a little harder to feed for a while so they take the opportunity when they can???
