    Smile Lake Conjola

Thanks to my last thread re whiting excellent size were caught in Port Hacking last week.
My dilemma is were are fishing Conjola in 2 weeks in an all species comp and as some will know there is a weed infestation at that location. In past comps it has been heaviest flathead only with 16 ducks over 2 days from 20 fishing. Can anyone help me win this damn comp by giving me some tips / fish hot spots for a few species Thanks Tony

Fish the edges of the weed beds with 65 - 75mm hardbodies. Cant give specific locations as I havent fished there in years. When i did I was land based and used to wade the banks and fish the edges of the weed beds for some huge flathead. Drop your lure size to something like a teeny deep craw in the clear tones, and you can pull just about anything from that place. For some reason large hardbodies dont seem to get much attention there. If your in a boat....slow troll something like a mann's stretch 10 (elton john, or grey ghost), or a Predatek Boomerang in 65mm (lime tiger, black and yellow tiger). They have always been my go to lures in shallow southern NSW lakes..and conjola is a shallow lake. Im sure there are a shite load of lures that will do just as good a job....but use those lures as a guide to size, shape and colour. And it is prime flathead time down there NOW.

    Cheers

    Re: Lake Conjola

Its bit over half way between Sydney and Narooma.....about a 2 - 2 1/2 hour drive - depending on where in Sydney you leave from, what sort of boat you are towing, and when you leave. I used to leave from Liverpool/Campbelltown/Picton......so had a bit of a start on people leaving from the north side. Its was also the venue for the Flathead Classic Invitational Tournament...dont know if it still is, or even if the tournament still exists.

    Re: Lake Conjola

I posted something similar on another site, Lake Conjola is the same as any other NSW lake (or anywhere else for that matter) the thinking fisherman who puts in the effort will get results, doesn't matter where he or she is fishing, the tourist fisherman that turns up at lunch time with a packet of frozen prawns, a kilo of lead for a sinker, and hurls the bait over the horizon will rarely get consistant results, use fresh/live bait, or learn how to use a lure, and think like the fish you are chasing will get fish almost anywhere.
