Might be looking at a 2006 D40 RX Navara (manual) on the weekend . Does anybody here own one and whats the fuel consumption like .Thats the main reason im getting rid of my old ute (very thirsty) . Also any other pros and cons that would influence my decision . Thanks in advance Mark

I have an 09 model d40 rx manual ( I have a performance chip in it (uses mo0re fuel than a normal d40) I get around 550klm from 65 Litres carrying 500kg in the back at all times.

Actually recorded towing data for my 1770 trip last year, but um, never worked it out to compare data a year on! Consumption hasn't really changed from what I can see & she's 3+ yrs and 70,000k's old. Time for a new boat tractor actually, just can't decide if it will be another D40 2.5TD Navara (but auto this time) or a wagon that can tow 3t.
Do you know if the 'crutch' has been upgraded? If it hasn't, that vintage will have the lighter duty model.

My Navara D40 turbo diesel auto 4x4, around town & driving redcliffe to newstead during the week and small stuff mainly on weekends, i get around 580km when the red light comes on, and i normally put around 68-70 litres back into the 76 litre tank.
When i took it to Hinchinbrook in october, fully loaded on the way up, not towing tho, i got about 600kms for about 3/4 of the tank.
Not getting another one tho. Not as good as what i thought it would be. Its a work supplied vehicle. Next one will be a hilux sr5 at this stage.
Unless of course they have a decent 6 seater 4wd ute come between now & then.

2007, D40 STX, turbo Desiel, auto
Brand new it was very thirsty, 15l/100 hwy.. same around town..
with 1000km on the clock it came down to 12-13lt/100..
The mile I put on it the better it gets..
At 35'000 the milage improved heaps... Hwy, I average 8lt, I have had it as low as 6.8lt/100...
Around town I get mixed results, if I get every red light, my milage is around 11-12 some times 13lt/100....
But if i get a straight run it can get as low as 7lt/100...
Overall on an average tank I get to 580-590km for 60-65lt, with a small amount off towing involved...
