    Re: Aftermarket Cruise Control

I have fitted a few years ago.

IMO the ones back then were ify especially on a 4b. The ones i fitted the pick up was on the tailshaft and with a bit of water/mud around the area made them playup to no end.

I could only hope the newer ones are better these days.

I stuck one on the GQ yrs ago and it has the speed pick up on the tail shaft too.

I never think about it, I just use it.

Never any isues except that make sure you take power off the ignition which I didn't originally and wondered why the battery would go flat if I left the cruise control "ON" and I didn't drive the GQ for a couple of months.

    Dave,

I install cruise controls, and totally recommend "Command" cruise control kits.
You pay a bit more for them, but theres no hassles after fitment.
These kits seem to be superior to others i had fitted in the past, and I've now only dealt solely with Command for the last 8 or 9 years.
If you want to know more, send me a message.

    Thanx Macca

I currently have a command on the rodeo '01' but am about to upgrade to an '07 rodeo...what would be the best fitment? (preferably wheel) I'm tech and mech. minded, any worries with diy?

Don't discount genuine kits. I have just got one for my Colorado and it is a complete kit that is designed to fit like it come out of the factory. Price was good too. PM your vin number to me and I could get you a price on one. Only downside is that you need a tech2 scan tool to activate the cruise via the vehicles computer.

I had one put in my Patrol a few years ago by TJM. It did fine. Don't know the brand though, sorry.

Had one professionally fitted on a GQII. It was a good bit of kit and never let us down. Fitted on the steering wheel and looked like a factory fitted one.

Years before I fitted one onto a XE. Bought it from Kmart and it did 200000kms without hiccup.

    G'day,

Do not do it under any circumstances. By all means fit a factory system but stay well away from the aftr market stuff.

    PM me for more information.

    Re: Aftermarket Cruise Control

I had a genuine one fitted to my 07 3.0 TD Rodeo and it is spot on. Set at 100 and it will kepp within 2 down and 1 up unless its a bigger hill and even then it's pretty close to the mark. Easy operation too and holden warranty to boot.
And it works with 2 and bit ton of boat on the back too but only when you are travelling pretty flat up the highway or are holding a lower gear.

    Cheers

    Why not??
Gees I wish it wasn't the secret society and people let everyone know why they say things.

I have fitted VDO and the Commands to my vehicles over the years.
The Kingswood had a Command fitted by me in 1998 (magnet on the shaft type) and has never failed.
The VDO was OK but the Command with the pulse pickup from the speedo signal (most cars have this now and not the old speedo cable) is spot on.
    Highly recommend the Command Dave.

One is on the shelf ready to bung in Mrs Palmer. Just waiting for a smidge free time to do it.
I intend on living for-ever....so far so good
