Just back from a quick trip to Vanuatu with the family.
Beautifull place as you would expect, with amazing crystal clear waters.
The water is that great to look at you just feel like fishing it non stop but my time was mainly spent close to the mainland popping the shallows.
Sadly the waters close to mainland seem to be under alot of fishing pressure and the local villages have flogged it hard for hundreds of years of survival.
Although I didnt really chase GT's this trip it was surprising to not even see a single one.
Not really sure why?....Possibly due to lack of current..?...or not enough food around for them to hunt..??......
But no complaints as I had some great fun with numerous Bluefin Trevally,Trout,Cod and Red Bass.
I did also receive 4 wipeouts and lost lures popping with PE4 (40lb).....either Red Bass,Big Trout or cod were the culprits.
Some of the areas are very shallow and they smack your popper and bury you in a instant...within 1 second they have you beaten, before you can even wind up the slack after a pop.......but thats the way it goes.
Couple of pics from the trip.....
Cheers,
Pete
