whyte island boat passage closure
just read in todays wynnum herald
"BOAT PASSAGE CLOSES"
"from may 2010 boating access through the boat passage between the whyte island boat ramp and the brisbane river will be closed for approximately 12 months."
"this closure is due to construction activities associated with the duplication of the captain bishop bridge. the duplication of the bridge will cater for the increasing traffic and trade demands at the port of brisbane."
"we regret the inconvenience for this tempory closure, and suggest alternative boat ramps at pinkenba and colmslie".

Wow that is not good news, the Comslie ramp is already pushed to the limit and the boatparks are often taken up with people at the dog park.

Re: whyte island boat passage closure
Latest from the port of brisbane website. The passage will be closed at times throughout the year.
"From August 2010, boating access through the Boat Passage between the
Whyte Island Boat Ramp and the Brisbane River will be closed a number of
times over a 12 month period. These closures will not occur over the weekend.
The closures are necessary for safety reasons associated with the
duplication of the Captain Bishop Bridge. The duplication of the bridge and
associated road works will cater for the increasing traffic and trade demands
at the Port of Brisbane.
PBC regrets the
inconvenience to the boating
community in the temporary
closure of the Boat Passage,
during the construction
period.
Boating access to the
Brisbane River is available
via the Pinkenba Boat Ramp
(north side) and Colmslie
Boat Ramp (south side).

Re: whyte island boat passage closure
according to the latest from Port Of Brisbane you can still probably use it
http://www.ausfish.com.au/vforum/sho...d.php?t=162143
but what I was told was once they locate a suitable place to put the new boat ramp then that whyte island ramp will be closed to the general public for good.
