filleting board out of a 4wd

Hi All

I'm a regular beach fisherman, and love to head up the beaches in my fourby (80 series DX) I'm looking at getting together an effecient filleting setup. currently i have an attachment to the back of the car in mind, with a board that extends out.

Has anyone got ideas on what would be a good filleting setup? if so could you please provide some pics of what you have?

go to the dump shop and get an old ironing board it is one of the best filletting boards i have seen .

Grab a painters trestle. They are stable, light and easy to clean. I chuck mine on the roofrack but have seen them hooked on the spare wheel or door

I use an old ironing board also, wait for the local council road collection and pick a good one out. Then go to a hardware store buy a $12 sheet of thin plywood, cut to size and sikaflex on. Even with cheap plywood you will get a few years out of it. Its light, portable, adjusts to your height and fits in easy.

2 legs made out of 12mm square gal. And a piece of ply.
Hard to see in the pic but there is a second gal bar under the ply.
30mm gap between this bar and top bar. Slide ply between and away you go.

im gonna make something up that will fit in the hayman reece, probably 2 piece, stainless maybe! lol.

Thanks for all the advice guys, Im currently thinking of giong with the ironing board idea, hopefully ill get one that will fit nicely when folded up,

If that doesnt work, maybe one of those painters trestles,

How wide is that painters trestle horse?

I like this. Pretty simple and low profile for packing.
I use an adjustable, folding table but always on the lookout for other ideas. I try to fit mine in a gap under the roofrack when packed.

Those cheap plastic trestles from Bunnings are what we use.

We use the full size one when we go to 1770 but the half size one would pack easier for beach stuff.

Being plastic they wash down real easy.

But certainly a $59 plastic table with folding legs from the big green shed will work.

Trouble with the standard bunnings tables is that they are too short. I think about 70cm whereas for comfortable filleting while standing you need about 90cm.
