Karumba in July any fish there then?

Hi, I have holidays in June/July and am planing a trip with the family to Karumba, Has anyone fished up there at the start of July? We will be taking a 4.5mt deep V tiny with 60 4stroke. I did one trip up there a couple years ago in April, but would like to know what fish are active if any in July. Any advise appreciated, thanks.

    Marvin,

I was up there in late June a few years ago and went out on a charter boat (can't remember the name). The water is quite cold at that time of year and there won't be much chance of catching a barra.

Our charter boat trip was pretty ordinary - we spent most of the time anchored up just off the channel trying to catch bream (not what you go to Karumba to catch!!) but hardly got any. Most of us on the boat were quite amused at an old bloke in a 12 ft tinny about 30m away pull them in one after the other.

For the last part of the trip we trolled the channel for queenfish and got half a dozen massive queenies around 1 - 1.2m long.

Back at the cleaning tables at the camp ground there were people catching fish - mainly mackerel and fingermark from memory.

    Ando
