Thread: Monduran Fishing

Its thinking on your feet Steve, and when the shite hits the fan, thats hard to do, a talent I dont posses un-fortunately.

Amazing sight number one - looking up at the right time to see a meter plus fish I had just lost jump 4 foot out of the air, threw its head and spit my jig head 20 feet, then rotate 180 degrees to execute a perfect nose dive back into the water.

Amazing sight number two - Noel and Braiden scooping up a very lively and agitated 121 in the landing net on the surface near the B cut thru. Fish was suffering barotrauma, they vented it and released, pic to come hopefully. No sign of hook punctres or the fish being hooked and released?

Good fishing Brian, and sure sounds like a great break you are having. those phoney breams are a good looking plastic but the hooks are not that great on them. Did you upgrade the originals? - cheers Richard

Nah Richard, stuck with the originals, but did give them a hot bath to loosen up the tail a bit.Chris was talking stingers, but I wonder what effect that would have on such a small plac?
Dunno, mite have to go fishing to give it a shot!

Heres Braidens 101, second barra ever and his first over a meter.
Gear was a HRF bait caster with 30 Daiwa braid, 80 leader, and a 6" Bone Hollow with some contrast stripes added.
Noel had to gab the scruf of his shirt to stop him being pulled over the side of the Hornet at one stage, great fish for the little bloke who cast, hooked and landed it by himself, with some help by Dad on the net.
Not competitive at all, he gave it to me about who had the bigest fish of the trip right up till he left for home! When I texted him abou the 105, he proclaimed that didnt count because he had allready left!
Our mission to turn boy into a barra catching machine who can drive the boat, reverse the trailer, and then drive Noel and I back to camp, is one step closer!

He is quite correct on this point....there is no competition if one competitor has already left the arena!

Don't train this one too well or he may become your nemisis.....

There doesn't seem to be a problem ...... when a stinger is used ( Hawaiian snap & #4 Owner) .... but I've only used it once

Two fish Brian,,,,,,a 106 to Gaz and an 84 to Vin. It was a bit of a struggle, we did have some chances but they were few and far between. I'll post up a small report as soon as I get some photos downloaded and ready to go.

    Cheers
