    Waeco TB-08 cooler power consumption

I have just been given a Waeco TB-08 http://www.waeco.com.au/products4.as...8&subCatId2=63, to use for those long drives with the baby to keep his milk cold.

Can anyone tell me what the power consumption would be on these, and what they think how long my Nissan Patrol battery would last while it is connected.

    Thanks

Quick google search says that the tb-08 has a consumption of 32 watts. Cant remember off top of my head how to convert this to amps per hour etc sorry, though with this info im sure someone else can?

EDIT: im pretty sure that it is watts/volts = amps

    so thats 32w/12v

that makes it 2.66667 amps. I think this is the draw per hour running. It would be much appreciated if someone else could double check though to ensure im not incorrect.

Yes, if 32w then that's nearly 3amps constant. Or 72AH per day. They are not efficient like a compressor fridge is. I'd be very careful leaving one running off the starting battery while the car is stopped.
They also only cool to 20 below ambient - so maybe down to 15 on a warm 35 day. Is that cool enough for the baby's milk? I guess in the car's aircon it is - but what about when you are stopped for a while?

Thats what they use but unless opened they will keep things cold for a fair while after it is switched off especially if you put drinks into the cooler already chilled.

That little thing will use bugger all. But I wouldnt trust it if its the type im thinking of (the fan that blows onto the plate inside the unit). As soon as you open it all the cold is lost and takes for ever to get cold again. Milk will go off. Get a propper small waeco. Best investment ever.

My 60 litre draws upto 6 amps on a hot day in the sun (approx 10 min running). And un opened kicks in about every 1.5 hours. But it also has a cover. It would only ever kick in 2 times at night max and wouldnt drain a battery.

But, I would trust an esky with an ice block over that little fridge

I'm with Ben, dont trust it with baby milk. IMHO you would be safest to freeze a couple of 3 lt milk bottles 3/4 full of sea water. Even in this weather I can get between 4 and 7 days at 6 to 10 degrees in a 70 lt frp esky.

By the way with our 10month old grandson we have found ( his parents actually decided this) that Aldi Organic Milk in the 1 lt cardboard carton keeps really well and bub loves it cold. The other brands W, C, dont seem to keep as well and dont taste as good according to the little tester. Aldi stuff is not bad value at $1.99 and great in coffee too.

Is there no end to the info we put on this site?

    Cheers

Why sea water Chimo, does it stay colder longer or something? Does bourbon stay even colder?

Who here doesnt know that salt water (sea water) has a much much lower freezing point. Put your hand up jarrah . Yep a block of ice and 5cm of sea water keeps the ice for 3 times longer. Only problem is you have to keep washing your beer lids in fresh water before you drink them. Otherwise it makes you even more thirsty ...

Beer lids etc are not a problem if you enclose you sea water in plastic bottles.

Of late I've even taken to freezing salt water in 5 lt pool acid plastic bottles and they last they well too.1

I pleed bourbon, it doesn't taste any good with salt water ice. I'll leave you beer boffins to study the science books.
