I have just put in my 1st week at work after 4 weeks holiday down on the Gold Coast. Needless to say I did a fair bit of fishing in that 4 weeks and was out on the water most days. I was only back at work for a few days when I started to have withdrawals, so with a new moon on Friday night , I thought another venture up the Nerang was required.
Packed the boat and my 2 sons William and Matthew on Saturday and hit the Broadwater just after 5.30pm. Straight to the banks to pump the yabbies for the night, the boys are just at that age when they are starting to pump some numbers so that was even better, less work for me.
William needed to go to the toilet so a quick run over to the caravan park where we had just spent 4 weeks was required. Pulled up on the bank and the guys who were fortunate enough to still be at the park couldn't believe their eyes when I showed up there just a week after leaving the place. So I copped a fair bit of sh*t from them and then we were on our way.
We started fishing at around 7pm and caught a few fish on the last couple of hours of the run in. Things went quiet as the tide slowed and then picked up again once the tide had turned and started to flow out again. We fished until 1am and ended up with 18 good whiting, the biggest going 37 most in the solid mid 30 range.
The smallest whiting (smack on 23cm) in the photo was caught back in the Broadwater on Sunday morning by my youngest son Matthew (8 years old) and I have learned it is not worth the argument, so in the esky it went.
another nice feed mate my faverate whiting spot is a no go now so im on the hunt for a new spot ive never fished( your) river ive been getting a few at the pin of late.keep up the good work mate
