Headed out from Caloundra at 6am, with the old boy on board. We first went to 5mile with not much luck we moved on to 12mile. We tried trolling and drifting with pillies, with no success. Then the battery decided it didn’t want to work anymore.
Lucky we had another battery on board, so we had to change it over.
Once we got it all working again we decided to do some reef fishing so we moved to a spot that has produced for us in the past, but can be very hit and miss.
We anchored up write on the change of the tide and we started getting hits straight away.
Over the next hour we pulled up parrot, pearl perch, grass sweetlip and spotties and 1 scorpian cod which I had a very close near miss with its spines, but got a finger full of it gill rakers.
Just to add to our bad morning, the landing net broke when we netted one of the fish, and when we decided to pull up stumps, the anchor broke when we brought it up.
Total fish = 6 parrot, 3 grassies, 2 pearl perch, and 2 spotties
Back in by 12pm after a mixed day on the water
