    wahoo research

I took Mitch out yesterday morning to try and catch some wahoo and what ever else we could find. We had a solid hook up at hutchies early morning that turned out to be a wahoo. It was a bit quieter than it has been but we did connect with another wahoo on the western side of hutchies but the hoo spat the hooks right by the boat.

It was good to assist Mitch in obtaining another frame for his research that he is undertaking for University of Queensland and CSIRO I look forward to reading his results when his work is complete. I think he has about 150 frames at the moment and requires 500 in total so if you do get a wahoo give him a call.

    Cheers,

    Reefer

    Mrs. Benno 1,

There were 4 or 5 boats there. We trolled some pushers as well but did connect with anything.

I think the research that he is doing is mainly on their growth speed and what they eat. He has a website on it and is on this site as Mj-apache.

Thanks for the trip Phil, it was great to get out there with you and get onto a couple of wahoo.

Benno - I'm doing a range of research on their biology including age and growth rates, spawning location and timing, diet, parasites etc. I'm also conducting some boat ramp surveys to see how many boats go out targeting them, and what other species they catch. For all information and some cool pictures, visit my website which is:

Well done Mitch I am glad you were able to get out with Phil, I knew he would come up with the goods.
I will give you a call when we get some more wahoo frames.

    Lizard Bribie,

It was the last bit of holidays for me so not too bad there. I am still trying to work out how to work less to get more week day trips but am not coming with the right solutions yet!

    Cheers,

    Reefer
