    Moreton Bay and soft plastics

    Hi guys,

I have been bugging may mates to take me out on the bay every few weeks for the last year or so. I finally convinced the misses to let me buy a boat (A little mac 4.2, nothing fancy but it gets me out on the water).
Recently we had our fist child so yesterday was the the fist day I could take the wife out. Headed over to peel island, had a quick fish, quick swim, watched the dolphins for a while then headed back to the little man.

I have been wanting to learn how to use soft plastics for a while now, starting to get the hang of it, although a lot of the time I cant get it to stay at the bottom when the current is running a bit. I was hoping somebody would be able to give a tip or 2 as I am the first one out of my mates to try SP's

    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for your help.

I am currently using between 1/6 oz - 1/2 oz depending on where I am.

should be ok with the heavier 1/2 oz might even want to try3/4 or 1oz but also remember to cast up current, and let it sink as it comes back to you.

im not that great with the plastics just yet, but i have caught fish on them, drifting is a must, if you drift, you can use light weights and throw in front of your drift.

The current runs through there pretty fast. If you are anchored up, yup, cast up current and let the plastic drift back to you, give it a couple of light twitches and keep reeling slowly. Don't let the line belly. If it does it won't be on the bottom.

My preference is Berkley Gulp 2inch prawn.

Do a search on snapper plastics. It should give you enough to get started
