Phil, well done. I think you have found a new vocation, 4x4 tour team leader.

Thanks Tim & Caroline for the invite to sit in there very comfortable air-conditioned vehicle. Hope to have my own 4x4 this year, might be able to buy Tim’s 4x4 really cheap now, that it’s been dented.

And it is always good to put faces to a few more names, just gotta remember them now. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bruce, for those that know, this was a very sedate trip for me.

I actually prefer to do a weekend whereby we hit rainforests, mud and need winches to assist people, all without damage. I do however, love the beach driving.

That view over the water off Bribie on Sunday was fantastic with beautiful clear and colourful water, a nice swell with small and very surfable waves and the beach was unpolluted. There were many more vehicles on the beach than I expected. But with such great weather, who could blame them.

To be honest people, nothing beats heading out bush for a weekend, campfire by night with a kazzillion stars in the sky and a smooth ale / wine in hand recounting the days events. murf and shano can attest to this sort of thing down Rover Park way.

Having said that, Fraser Island does hold special memories and moments and will always be a prime destination for me.

Come to think it,,,, how good do we get it here in Qld ???

    more later...

    cheers LP.

Geez, you should hear Mumsie. On and on and on... "How's the car, Tim? She used to be unsullied, Tim. Look at that dent, Tim..." Off to the Crash repairs on Monday.

For those who don't know, we all stopped at one point on the inland road (to wait for the diminutive Pojie to be extracted from 5 cm of sand ), and I was laughing so hard (something about Bruce telling us how badly he stretches Alli's G-strings...) that after we stopped I forgot to put her in Park. The Cruiser was intercepted by the combined might of Sid's towball and spare tyre, at about 2 km/h. His Missus was claiming whiplash...

Anyway, here are some of my pics...

    Cheers,

    Tim

I echo all the above sentiments on a great day.

For those interested we went back up the beach today. We stayed up near Beachmere. Anyway there was a total of 10-15 cars on the entire beach today. There were mackeral slashing just behind the breakers in a couple of places and the eagles were soaring in a few places.

The differences between a weekend and a weekday are unbelievable. We're planning to head back up in March to book a campsite with our friends. It's a nice relaxed beach for family.

And I've got to say the catch of the day goes to Harry. I could see it all unfolding very quickly and another couple of seconds and it could have been a terrible tragedy. For those that didn't see it Harry's daughter and two other kids got caught in a quickly forming rip and were sucked off the little sandbar there were on in seconds.

It was frightening to watch and they weren't even my kids. Great effort on the save mate and alls well that ends well.

Thanks for the day Phil - maybe the next 4x4 MG can be an overnight camping trip. It will help us all get to know each other a bit more.

And Phil, no probs on the tow - it was good to get the snatch strap out.

Bring it on Phil and I'll be there. You should have hit up glasshouse/beerburrum on the way back. It's not as wet as you'd expect after the recent rain.

Sorry I couldnt make this one, but the missus wasnt real keen with a 3 day old baby. Looks like you guys had a good time.

So the mini paj got stuck. Was Phil stuck in that pic ? any other casualties ?

    Oh and Greg,

I couldn't find you at the end so handed the VHF radio to Phil. He's more likely to see you again before I am. Thanks for the lend.

    Re: Bribie M & G. round-up

I've been thinking a bit more about this.

Maybe what we should do is a bit of a country tour followed by a stay in a great overnight country pub.

A country tour - a few drinkies, nice country meal, a few more drinkies, nice soft country pub bed, big country breakfast, leisurely drive home.

    What do you think.

I'd be in for that. Weekend in the mountains, exploring, drinking, drinking, sleeping, eating.

Sounds like a trip we take all the time to our country house.
We have not got the pub bed though. The last pub bed I slept on felt like it had broken glass in it. Maybe I shouldn't sleep in skip bins
I intend on living for-ever....so far so good

If we were in NSW, I would suggest a trip to Kangaroo valley near Nowra. Great pub and food, Falls up the road, nice trip in all.

But to far for an over nighter.
