    Maroochy jack session

Jason and I went fishing tonight at a new spot in the lower reaches of the Maroochy recommended to us by a friend.

The night started at 830pm and it started well with me landing a jack within 10 minutes of my bait hitting the water.
I won't bore everyone with a blow by blow account, but the end result was:

Jason - 3x mangrove jack (all on dead 4-5" mullet)
Me - 3x mangrove jack (bigger than his hehe) and an eel. (all on live silver biddies)

    Pics, because everyone loves pics

    Jack 1 (Me)

    Eel (Me)

    Jack 2 (Me)

    Jack 3 (Jason)

    Jack 4 (Jason)

    Jack 5 (Jason)

    Jack 6 (Me)

Pic of Jason being a wallyburger with Jack 3

Pic of me holding Jack 6

Cheers I should add that all fish were released in good health. Looking forward to catching their babies once they migrate out into the big blue and breed some bubba jacks

Cheers mate, it seems like an alright place to wet a line. That said, I have a feeling that we just got really lucky last night. I don't think it would be wise for us to fish there again with the expectation of landing the same quantity of fish. Could end up a bit disappointed.

She's been a bit tricky of late to be honest.. I've been going out to wet a line not expecting much but have been a little surprised here and there.

Seems to be a few more trevs getting around now, jacks on the chew in the right spots, moses perch are making a bit of a comeback it seems, the odd 50cm+ flatty about... That's about all I can tell you really.

    Excellent work Matt,

I must say I'm particularly impressed with your catch and release.

Hopefully more of it catches on.

    Regards,

    Steve
