    Another Yamba yarn

Made the trip down to Yamba with the family just prior to Christmas and spent a week at the Blue Dolphin (brilliant park). We enjoyed great weather for the week and we were able to get the boat in the water every day. As mentioned in another thread the ramps were excellent, we used the one 100m down the road from the Blue Dolphin as the one in the park is really only useful at high tide. A cheerful council worker was there each day resufaceing the jetty and doing some linemarking and was happy to have a chat as we came in and out - he dragged the job out a bit - cant say I blame him
This trip was made special as it marked my eldest son Jack's first fishing expedition. He only recently started showing some interest in fishing so I was keen to get him out and hopefully onto a few fish. Thanks to A/F member Zooter for his help regarding some starting points, they didnt let us down.

The first fish Jack managed was a tiny little sand flatty that would have been lucky to have been 10cm long but he was stoked! It was sent back to grow up with the instructions to send his big brothers and sisters!

After the first days fishing Jack was at me constantly "dad can we go fishing tomorrow?" Which was music to my ears. The second day saw him score his two best fish for the trip, first was a 25cm bream that really gave him a good fight on his little Alvey combo. He followed that fish up with a 40cm flathead - I cant believe that was the only day I forgot the camera!! But the memory is there for us both and there will be more to come Im sure. The rest of the trip he managed a selection of Bream, Whiting and some very small Tailor. All fish were released to keep growing.

All in all the week was brilliant and we are going back again next year for another dose of Yamba's delights.

Since returning home we also managed one trip out to Green Island with my Dad who was up on holidays where Jack added a couple of undersize squire to his growing list of captures, hopefully some larger models will come soon but for a 6 year old these fish give him a good workout and he just loves spending time out in the boat with his Dad which to me is the best part of all.

    Cheers

    Gday Scott,
“I can’t believe that was the only day I forgot the camera!! But the memory is there”

Mate, as you said above, the memory will be there forever, unless you’re my age of course, anyhow, always good to see the smiles on the young folk hey.
Just think of the competition you will now have.

    Cheers

    G'day Scott
You can't beat the smile on their face when they catch their first fish.
It's what you can call a mastercard moment.
