fished the mouth landbased the last 2 days with plastics with ok results. fished yesterday and got absoultly smoked with amazing speed at about 130 pm close to the rocks.... i was using 4inch berkley swimming mullet in pumpken seed and this fish hit at speed and had me bricked on some mystery snag after a nice 5 metre run. i reee rigged and the very next cast i managed to jag a huge ray and i was well on the way to getting spooled and thankfully the hook popped out.

so i came back again today with some desire to see with what i could wrangle outta the area. used the same plastics in the same sorta spots with ok results i guess... not massive hits like the days before but i did end up with a 25cm moses perch and a 51cm flattie which made a ok account for it's self in the deeper water.

all fish released...

i'm thinking the fish on the first day was either a squire/sweetie/jack/cod...... as i herd a few sweeties gettin nailed down there

i only fished a hour each day and i really enjoyed my time

well done Dylan, ya gotta love gettin smoked once in a while though don't ya. it's lifes way of evening up the ledger.

I've caught a few cod down there and some of the bigger ones will do you on the rocks on the lighter gear.

Thanks for the report Dylan. It is amazing what can be caught in those canals and at civilized hours of the day too!
