After trying inshore for macs with no sucess we headed out to the 8 mile to troll for dollies and blacks. There was very little bait about so we continued North trying all the likely spots, by about 11am 10 year old Jai was asking are we going to troll lures all day, can't we fish on the bottom?
He changed his tune pretty quickly after a screamer of a bite on the short rigger turned out to be a 7.5 kg hoo, his biggest fish to date. We spotted some dolphins around the Coolum 12 mile and and although we could not mark any bait there picked up a fiesty black of about 35 and another 11kg hoo.
