Black on Ymer
Gents,
Organised with Brooksy to take my nearly three year old son Harrison out for his first trip offshore (if you don't count Tassie). We were thinking heavy tackle on the shelf but decided on light tackle in close on Saturday.
Not a bad day with light winds and 1.5m swell. Harrison loved it. He was climbing up and down from the bridge all day. He was playing in the live bait tank, helping rig lures and catching bait (when he could turn the reel handle).
Fishing was a little bit slow with lots of bait (small bonito and yakka).
I dropped a big dollie early on live bait after it hooked up on the keeper hook rather than the circle. The little 2 o finally straightened at the boat.
Dan Smith tagged the black just as I was having a nap. It took a swim gar on the short corner and put on a great display for us all. We called it for about 30kg.
It was pretty quite for the rest of the day until we stopped at the Blinker on the way home ad found plenty of yellowtail kings and AJs willing to take the last of our livebait.
I've got to say there's a big difference in going to sea in a 5m tiller steer and a 34 Blackwatch. What was I thinking
