    bumps on SP's

    hey
i just thought i would pose the question after self teaching my self 4 or 5 years ago now how to use plastics i could never really be sure of a hook up, i would constantly feel hits or bumps from bream but would rarely hook up.

after a year of rarely catching fish after hourse of using SP's i began dropping my rod tip as soon as i would feel a bump then after a few seconds i would resume my technique, 9 times out of 10 this would result in a hook up and its a technique i now use for convertinmg bumps into hook ups.

the replies that i receive from this thread im sure will not only be interesting to read and learn how other people use SP's but also help other people that are having the same problems i was when i first started out.

so i ask, what do other ausfishers use to convert hits to hook ups?
or am i not alone with my technique,

    thanks troy

what do you do if you get a bump on plastics when targetting bream?

this was just to see what other ausfishers say because personally when fishing and i feel the bump i simply drop the rod tip instantly, then after a few seconds i resume the technique and 9 times out of 10 the fish would of come back for the second dose, and bam, your on

so what do other ausfishers tend to do when they receive a bump on SP's

    Hi Troy,

Thanks for posting this thread as it will turn into a very interesting one with many replies. Generally I use the same technique as you, and I agree the line comes tight at least eight times out of ten. If it doesn't I will slowly twitch the Plastic at least two feet from the bottom, and let it descend back to the bottom leaving a bit of slack line during the process, making sure that I am watching the slack line. If the line descends at an unnatural pace I will slowly increase the line tension until I get my rod-tip bending slightly and then I will 'set the hook'.

    Thanks Tom

exactly right tom you should always watch the line and then you can see the bumps through that and the fish will feel nothing unuasual and you continue that pause and they will normally take it, also i find my strike is not a big one, it is normally just the twitch of the rod tip, this way you do not rip it out of their mouth, if the hook up is not there when i resume my techniue i continue as per usual and you will normally end up with more bumps.
thanks for the insite to how you convert into hooks ups tom

    troy.
