    Gold Coast Reefs

    Hey there,
Just wondering and can't wait to know.
I'm just about finished doing my OWN boat up to 'seaworthyness'.
My questions is how far out are the 24,36,50 fathom reefs etc on the Gold Coast?
And are they out from the seaway?
    New to fishing up here.
GPS is the next thing on the to do list.
As i am keener than mustard to fish these reefs.
    Thanks,
    Fishobloke

If you do a Google search on GPS Marks, Gold Coast, you will find some generic marks which will get you close to the 24's. They are about 4 or 5 miles from the Seaway for memory.

Yes, you can get to them all from Seaway.

Also, to get more accurate idea of how far the marks are from Seaway, throw them into Google Earth (http://earth.google.com/download-earth.html), then use the ruler tool to measure distance.

Fair hike out to the 36's and 50's, especially if she turns nasty...stick to the closer reefs 12's, 18's+24's until you get comfortable with the area.(Make sure you have all safety gear also)

As mentioned, Google will give you some starter marks - eg. http://www.sportsfish.com.au/boating...ueensland.html

Goldie is fished pretty hard, so don't expect to bag out on your first journey!

    Re: Gold Coast Reefs

Get yourself a copy of the Sunmap guide to offfshore fishing off the Gold Coast. Major reef systems are marked and it will give you a good perspective of where things are in relation to the seaway etc.
