    Faust Fulfils 1 Dream

Took a mate and his 16 year old son fishing at Peter Faust Dam last weekend. Perfect conditions on both the Saturday and Sunday mornings. We hit the water at sunup on the saturday and trolled for quite a while without any touches. It was hard to get these fish to take my lures, we ended up rotating through around 20 different colours, styles and types of them. Everything from shallow to deep divers were used. Everyone else on the Dam seemed to be hooking up and getting good fish.

A mate who also went down with his boat was smashing the Barra on Halco Laser Pro 190's. Even is old man managed a stonker fish, I think it went over the 130cm mark.

We ended the day with zero fish in the boat and I was beginning to wonder if it was something I was doing, the harmonics of my motor, the way I was standing. Just couldn't work out what was wrong.

Sunday morning and we hit the Dam again, after launching, my mate and his son whack on a couple of new poltergeist lures that they had purchased the day before. We swam them on the first troll of the morning and angled down toward the Rock Wall, getting the lures as close as possible to the concrete pylons. As we passed the pylon I could see some good shows on the sounder and was hopeful of a hookup. We had gone past and all look doubtful when, smack goes young Williams rod tip and line starts to peel out. After a 10 minute fight with the fish jumping, diving and running. He finally got it to the boat and his dad swung the net in place and scooped up the Barra.

95cm on the mat and a nice Peter Faust specimen, not as big as some but still good catch for the young fella.

We didn't hear the end of it for the rest of the morning....

Yeah conditions were perfect each morning, but got really windy in the arvo.

Saturday was SE winds with clear sky
Sunday NW winds with very cloudy conditions

Dam really didn't get warm enough for them to fire up
