Ahhh Brian, thought you may have snuck away for a Mondy fix....
Great story, well told with the pics to match! Any quality time with your Dad is precious....just ask Kyle!!
Pity the rest of the boys didn't crack the barra but as you said, there's more to these trips than just the fishing.
Only two more weeks and we'll be there for another go!

Love the bankside garage, bit soft underfoot
Pete
good report mate,
sounds like a good trip away and a few fish to boot
Cheers,
Ben
A lot different from your normal trips Brian. Its good to mix it up a bit and just kick back some times. You will treasure the memories from this trip I am sure. Love to get my dad up to a Dam some time and camp with him as it is something we have never done together. Thanks for the report.
Hey boys, cheers for the replies! Some will know Ive struggled to get on the water the last few months with work, so this trip was long overdue.
It was a differant trip for us, civilzed almost!
The timber is really starting to poke out past B arm turn off, and I have some panel beating to do to the prop this week end. Lucky Noel and I both carry spares, and the tools to do the job, its a long way home at 4 knots.
I thought I saw a green poly a few times round the traps, and wondered if it was some one I knew, small world.
The lower dam seemed to be holding the fish, but Im wondering if that was because of the number of boats that fished the islands on sun down - more boats = more casts = more fish? Dunno, but I have a feeling the basin mayhem isnt far away.
Tech facts:
Glass out in the morns and a good 15 to 20 in the arvo, generally nor east, but the wind always follows the bays up there. Water temps ranged from low of 24 to high of 30, and color is green green green.
The basin boys were scoring on placs and H.B's, no rhyme or reason, for us it was 5 and 6" hollows, and gaddens classic pro and suspending B52. I had a surface throw on a point with active bait on Sunday morn, for nil result.
Best bait I know for catties, piece of Woolies sauso on a R2S assist jig hook, if your game!
Get into it if you can boys, really, just spending time with the ol bloke, mates, fishin, boating, knocking a few frosties back at the end of the day, watching the boy learn and try, thats livin....!
cheers
brian
Hi Brian,
That green poly was probably Scotty, "Vet", i believe he was there when you were.
There you go mate well i'm off to catch a jack or three tomorrow, fishing Sat thru to Sun morning.
Cheers,
John.
Good report Brian thanks. Nice pics as always. "If you can't enjoy your day impoundment Barra fishing without catching a fish you would soon loose interest"

Thanks Stevros, bit of a change to have a fridge to keep my beer cold, and a roof over my head instead of canvas.
Q.
Where does all that water go, those cane growers cant be that thirsty can they?
Is there a point where they say no more pumping, or would they keep going till she was dry.
i know the barra are a bonus, the water is there for the growers, just wonderin?
