    evinrude artificial reef

    hey guys,

my brother in law's mate borrowed my tinny at the mouth of the caboolture river the other day & lost my 6hp evinrude outboard in the drink.

I was super impressed as you can imagine & he doesn't want to pay for a replacement surprise surprise anyway i have added an image of the area it was lost if anyone happens to hook it I would be willing to pay a few hundred bucks for its return.

alternatively if anyone has a good litttle 6 they would like to sell let me know also.

    cheers steve

Mate that's a real p&sser. I'd be onto him straight away...fair dinkum, what sorta bloke does that and doesn't offer to replace it? Nuts. I'd just look for a decent second hand job if I were you, 'cos the one in the drink will never run the same, if at all. Get onto the fella though mate, as it's not acceptable ettiquette.

All the little motors have a spot to attach a lanyard as they fall off more often then people think du eto vibration . Lanyard the next one on.

After 24 hours in teh drink it is a rebuild propositio only so it's goooooooone

Pretty crap attitude by the mate and brother who lent it. Peerhaps teh plick should row you everywhere!!!

    Re: evinrude artificial reef

Is it where the place marker is? Its close to the shallows if it is. Otherwise she is in about 10 foot of water so if you know someone with a scuba set they should be able to find it.

    Re: evinrude artificial reef

he hasn't heard the last of it thats for sure.
He doesn't think it was his fault because it wasn't secured properly but that's the chance you take when borrowing other peoples gear & if it had of been me i would have been very apologetic & coughed straight away.

Feral it is where the place marker is pretty deep their I think I will leave it alone & just find a good second handy.

cormorant I had a lanyard for it but obviously he didn't attach it when he put the motor on.

anyone Know a good place to get second hand motors????

    thanks steve

I will be sending the a$%hole a bill for it & following it through

    Re: evinrude artificial reef

mate thats as weak as pi$$, if u borrow something and damage/lose it u replace it or at least give an indication u intend to simple as that, none of this blatant "nah im not replacing it shit" doesnt matter if its a hammer or a car...

recently had a blow up with one of my better mates cause he borrowed a few dvds n lost em n rekons he wont replace em.....its the principal ya see

    Re: evinrude artificial reef

I would be taking the blokes car keys until he coughs up the cash or a replacement.
The one thing everybody should check when they put the bungs in is to check the motor attachment.
The river in the area indicated is about 8-10 feet deep roughly, a few drags through there with the reef pick should get it back out of the water. It is in dire need of a complete rebuild though, do not try and start it or cycle it with the pull rope until the plugs are out at the very least.

    Re: evinrude artificial reef

so the new reef will be known as "deckstar's arti reef"......we now have a foundation stone for a "local" arti reef...now were did I put that old washing machine that was buggered and a couple of truck tyres....neighbour had an old fridge too.

Before someone says anything about dumping things....I am having a bit o fun with it, as much as you can .....weak as pi$$ response from a relative and his "mate"if you ask me.
    Cheers Garry

    Re: evinrude artificial reef

shame shame on the b in law and his mate, iguess this is why we call them outlaws, any contribution towards the loss would be better than what he has done, nothing.

Never lend your chainsaw, lawnmower or wife.

Why, they always come back f$*##ed! We will have to add outboards to the list, however this one never came back at all.

    Poor form......
