Thread: How to catch Jacks?

    How to catch Jacks?

Have we had this thread yet this season?

If not, and seeing as though I wouldn't mind going out and targeting these fish for once, does everyone feel like throwing in some advice for targeting these beasts?
Primarily, where to find them. What type of structure and when?

    Cheers!

Mate there was a thread on here a little while ago by gheko (i think). was very insightful and nothing i could argue against. after fishing myself for jacks on the tweed for the last 5 years the most important thing i have learnt is to be very stealthful in your approach. check out ghecko,s thread.

Hot, muggy, still conditions are ideal. Live baits and dead - they sometimes prefer one over the other. And, of course, lures. Find the nastiest snag you can, use mono trace, and cast into the death zone. Enjoy and hang on-give her nothing!

Use beaky garfish live mate , guaranteed Jack or fingermark bait, sometimes I don't even have time to throw my second bait out and the other is peeling off for the timber.
