Panagonian tooth fish. Don't know what they're like to eat or catch, but I've always wanted to catch one cause they've got a cool sounding name!

Callsign - Smells Like Fish! VHF Ch 21, 73 or 80
Sorry
Couldn't vote as barra are below reef fish and pelagics but each to their own I guess after all that casting you guys do it must feel like winning the lottery. when a barra jumps on.
End of the day its the social side of fresh water fishing that gets me on the dams. Just a great bunch of blokes and a few beers and a fire, what more would ya want.
Mark
Bombie bashing with spin gear, no sinker, fresh flesh bait, gin clear water 5 meters deep, hook up and hang on, give an inch and its over rover, sigh, 10 months to go till the Swains trip.
Cant do that every week end, so its a toss up between bass and jacks, 2 totally differant fishing enviroments and techniques though.
I put Jacks simply cause they are hard, mean, and are just up the road. that first hit is awesome.
The only other fish I would like to catch other then a Jack and had the op to go world wide would be either a sturgon, Black bass, giant tarpon, Tiger fish, payara, man I could go on and on....
But hey If its not a Barra a Jack is always no2 for me
If it were on the list I would go for sooty grunter. Great fun both wild and impoundment. Sometimes the hit from a 45cm sooty makes you think you have a 90cm barra.
As far as the list goes it would be jacks as I have yet to chase any of the other species.
Birko.
Toga because they are close by and a more irregular by catch. There are also some big ones in Hinze and I will love to get one of them. They also put on a good show for themselves. Bass though are my most regular and reliable species.
I would have to say that I enjoy any type of fishing as they all have a magic aspect to each. Be it the pretty areas you go freshwater fishing to the explosive surface hits to an aggressive salt water pelagic that won't stop until it kills your lure to the sight of a barra jumping in the shimmer of a full moon to that no give fight and anticipation of reef fishing to the delight on your kid's face as they catch fish to the art of tricking a quarry with a fly rod to watching the jumping antics of a toga or marlin to even trying to extract a cunning old bream from their long held hiding spot and finally to the social aspect of sharing the highs/lows of the day with family/friends. It is all good.

spanish mac, fingermark.
Jewies out of Darwin in about 8-12 metres of water, hard up against the structure is awesome!
Differnt things turn different people on
Of the list barra would be on the bottom of my list of the group above.

yellowtail kingfish
WHERES THEM BREAM?
For me I would have to say is the Mighty Sooty Grunter . If Im fishing for Barra and I catch a Sooty I still have a smile on me dial, what a great fish.
Spaniards .......but another if I could access them regularly - dogtooth tuna would rate highly, done it once - mindblowing power
All of the above is definately the go
Being limited to just one I'd say Bass as it makes for a nice relaxing day on the water and is loads of fun
Cheers,
Tony
