to all the people with bowmount electrics on that size tinnys was wondering what size you sugest in thrust and also lenght of the shaft. i have a 4.69 nomad and was looking at the 54lb/48" would this be ok???
cheers for the help
I have a 48" 54 lb bowmount motorguide on my 4.35 TABS and find the shaft length a little short , in rougher weather or if someone big is down the back .The 54 lb thrust is ok in all but very strong tidal conditions.if I did it again i might go to a 24 volt set up with 70 lb thrust just for windy days and big tides.
Go for the longest shaft available, you can always set it shallow.
54lb thrust would do the job in most situations, I run a 55lb on my 4.2 and it is well and truly enough and my boat is very heavy with all the crap in it these days.
Comes down to cost and room for two batteries to go up a size though.
