Give Stuart or Myles a PM mate.
hi guys just after some info or contact number on a brisbane based rod builder to get 2 custom rods built, 9ft in length and 24kg rated blanks to suit 7 inch alveys for trolling, any info would be great.

The whole world's mad save thee & me (but I'm not too sure about thee)
Wilson Live Fibre Rods might suit you? Just copied thsi from their website now. Maybe ask a retailer for a price. Cheers, Darren

You could also give Gary Howard a ring at Australian Rod Manufacturers at Brendale.
Plenty of options.

thanks guys have looked at the live fibre range and they have nothing that would suit my needs, spoke to gary howard already and he could build me 2 rods but he is just trying to track down a blank that may do this job in that length range.

Sabre 540H? Cut to suit your requirements, ie probably a few inches from the tip.
Not a cheap blank though.......

What Owen said.
Jerson.
24KG on an Alvey? Jesus you will need to be awake when using that rig I would think, by the way, I am not under estimating the quality, or the capabilities of an Alvey, it just seems to be a bit of an unusual trolling setup.
yerh it is mate but we run 24kg line on alveys when we troll for big spaniards and up north the alvey reel is the best choice for line retrieval, and they have a huge line capacity, over the normal overhead reels, at times we can loose up to 6-8 mackerel before we can get one in past the sharks, its just what we have found to work best for us.
I have to agree about the alvey's for big blues & cobia.
I worked on an LFB boat many years ago & all we ever used were 9" alvey reels with teflon washers fitted, 70 lb schnieder line & 10 to 15 kg rods. The best blank i ever made up was an Angler blank which i think was made on the sunny coast.
Cheers

There are 8ft braidbuster 15-24kg but you could run 80lb that may suit. Budds used to sell them. eagleray rods as well?
Built a mackerel stick years ago on a sabre lbg stick to suit alveys either 7 1/4 or 9 1/4 can't remember which. Came up pretty good and the customer was happy with. I would go with sabre or calstar personally but as mentioned will not be too pleasing on the bank balance
