    Futter Creek fires up { Lake Awoonga }

It was time to try Futter again....its been open now for about five months...In my early days of fishing the lake there was no need to fish anywhere else.. You could take the back road from Calliope drop the boat in at a piece of bank that looked ok and away you would go..{.Ah the good old days } Now we have locked gates and a twenty six k trip down the mighty Bruce Hwy...Yes 26k is nothing compared to what you guys travel so l wont complain any longer.....Lake Awoonga full moon just the odd trailer at the ramp. Yea right....Take a ticket ,wait in line. A guy asks if l am a local ? I reply yes but his question is about where to park..not about the fishing..Mate its called the Lake Awoonga fitness walk .Park it up the top. The walk back after fishing shall cleanse your soul...l get this strange look...On the water and off in the barra catching stakes...{Sounds good }Now l had been givern the good oil by a friend of mine...{Thanks brad } surely you didnt think that l had done some homework myself..[God forbid }At the entrance to Futter l see a camper with a fire going...{Total fire ban}....We exchange words of wisdom, well kinda l carry on...At warp speed the illusionist carrys me down the mighty Futter to the spot the Brad had told me about...First cast....Nothing you thought l was going to say ...on ....didnt you......It takes about a hundred of those casts before l got my first hookup ...Surprise , surprise its a little fella about 700 As the moon rises so do the hookups. In all five fish are boated out of six hookups.. Nothing over about 750...Tonight l am king of the castle or so it seems. What did l catch them on ?.. Well at school l was told allways tell the truth if you wish to get to heaven..So l cannot tell a lie 110 Silck rigs boiled and marinated in Berkley gulp l am sure it was the gulp that did it

Give a man a fish & he will eat for a day !
    Teach him how to fish
& he will sit in a boat - & drink beer all day!

Good one Trevor. Words of wisdom lol. They (the words of wisdom) were coming out of only one mouth. Anyone lighting a fire in these total fire ban conditions has no regards for anyone else. Glad to see you got some fish.

    Nice work Trev.

Good to see some fish being caught

Also, I think its a bit unfair that you have to drive 26km and I thinks its quite rude you are made to do so

Just thought I would let you know there is also a new rule for submitting reports now and that is -

    Rule 1a

Barra reports can only be submitted if the towing distance is in excess of 60km

    Nice work again.

    Cheers

Good one Trev - good to see some smaller fish around too. A return to something from the past worked for me today too - frogs in the jungle

FYI - the chorus of boofing at the nest just before moon up was deafening....had to leave as the moon broke the horizon to get a daughter home at a mother defined time hard to leave that activity - hadn't worked out what they would trigger on .

Ah yes the ramp - kind sole parked in the middle of the ramp during launching with all the time in the world and the dreaded lights left on while trying to reverse the car during retrieve - bring on new moon winter time.

    Catchya on the water sometime.

Mate it was on for young and old last night. Similiar experience, come sundown BANG 4 landed - biggest 110cm, 3 lost next to the boat on thrown hook and at least another 4 smash n miss. All on Power Mullet 5'.

You guessed it, tonight was back for more. Didn't get on the water till 7pm and yes - donut.

    Fishing not Catching.

No! ditch that rule Lee, I'm really enjoying hearing about the local's exploits.

Keep 'em coming guys, sounds like this hot weather is firing up some action!

Good to see you've finally found some small fish in Awoonga Trev.

    Cheers,
