Yes that's easily achieved, the task isn't too big. However it could be handled easier by someone who has that impoundment nous. Me doing it will just be a bit longer in clarifying some things, still not a big deal.

Prior to putting it up for comment generally I'd suggest one person to put it together and a couple of people to act as sounding boards for the text and provide suitable pics etc. Once that team has got the bugs out post the draft as either a pdf if that's possible or just have it converted to a jpg, although in that case the resolution may be a bit vague.

As suggested earlier the initial run should be limited to a couple of hundred and a office printer to keep costs down but get the feel for the idea. Feedback will probably give you some changes to incorporated in terms of readability etc.

Once you have that shoot it to a printer and have the layout and printing done professionally. Funding for that will not be a problem I assure you provided there's been some volunteer work done to leverage it.

As for the team to put together the draft I'd suggest three people, mixed personalities and areas of interest to provide the widest possible suite of ideas.

I am a much better critic than creator (!) but if someone (and my vote is for NAGG ) was prepared to write the content, then I could get one of my girls to have a go at putting it together....

    What about pics/diagrams?

I've been away chasing small spikey silver fish on Sydney Harbour, but I'm going to get onto this one, and do something up. give me a few days, and I'll bounce something back here, for you guys to critique before we send it to Pete for printing.

If anyone has already started on something let me know, It will be a shame if we drop the ball on this one. Especially when Pete has so generously donated his services.

Matt, here is a sign at Currumbin Alley on the Goldy. Obviously its a Surfers Code of Conduct. Something along these lines on all boat ramps would be a good start. It could be a boaters or fishers code of conduct. Eventually people might start getting the idea and become more considerate of others.- Richard

    Re: ABT Barra Stealth Rules

That looks like a great idea Richard.

I wonder if you need permission to put up signs at boat ramps? Anyone?

The other thing we need is a sign writer/maker?

This could be a big project, but well worth trying to do.

For signs at the ramp, which I think should be the initial plan of attack as everyone going on the water has to go past them. You would probably have to run it past the authorities that run each particular dam.I wouldn't think there would be too much of a problem in getting the ok.Getting the signs made would be the biggest stumbling block, along with getting however many were made to the various dams.I'm sure working B's could happen to get them up.Along with a session after(fishing session first).

Matt, this initiative is a joint venture between Gold Coast City Council, Surfing Australia and the Surfrider foundation.

I imagine the local council, local MASA group and maybe ABT would be a similar sort of trio. Obviously some local authority needs to be behind it if it is on public land.

Just imagine how eye catching it would be if on a sign the shape of a barramundi located at the bottom of the ramp. ! When surfing at Currumbin it is amazing how many people you see stop and read this sign.

    Re: ABT Barra Stealth Rules

The sign in the shape of a barra would certainly attract a lot of attention, and get heaps more people to read it.

I think our issue will be funding, as there is no way this is going to be a free excercise.

The people that are most keen to get this happening are us (Very keen ausfish barra anglers). We have no official group, club, committee etc, But donations or sponsorship would be handy to kick this off.

I'm pretty sure ABT, or any other tournament organisers would not bother backing this. There is no benefit to them. Same with local councils or fishing clubs.

In order to keep the ball rolling on this one we need three things.

    1. Local Ausfish barra anglers to approach councils to see what is required to erect a sign at their dam.

    2. Quotes from signwriters

    3. Ideas on what to write on the signs.

If anyone has contacts or connections with councils, water boards etc, or sign writers, can you make some enquiries?

    Cheers,

    Matt

    Matt,

THere is a bloke on here (Gordo) is his ausfish name, He makes signs, and was going to do them for a good deal, We looked into doing this a few years back, I was a bit slack, and never really took the time to get around to it. I will check with MASA for some $$ for at least the Mondy sign...I wont hold my breath though. I will also talk to the local councillor who I have found as a pretty good bloke...he has FINALLY got the bundy regional council to realise the importance of Mondy, thus he might be able to talk them into some $$$...but, as councils go, this could take some time. I will give it a go...I wont be around on here for a few weeks as I am on hols, and away mostly...but I will try and get onto these two. If I can find gordos details I will PM them to you...hes a top bloke.

    cheers Steve

Thats a great idea I have been fishing at my local dam hooked a fish and before I could land the fish had a bloke was on my door step flicking lures at me.Treat others the way you would like to be treated. Some say its only a fish but when you spend all that time on the water for some w****r to spoil it you have to wonder what playing lawn bowls would be like.
