I have a Lowrance Global Map 4800m which has served me well over the past few year.
Went to sea yesterday and all was well till I was half way to spot x when I got the message GPS module not responding. This problem persisted for the entire day intermittently comming on and going off untill it finally would not connect.
On arriving home I dismantled the aerial to find the thing full of an ants nest.
Checked with the agent here in Coffs and the replacement unit is $500 if he can get them - a new unit is $980.
The purpose of this post is twofold firstly to warn other boaters to check units such as this for ants - there has been no external sign of ants at all on the boat.
Secondly was to ask if anyone had a LGC200 that they wanted to sell.
