Cleveland Point Draft Plan

Hi all, the Redland City Council is again looking at changing the layout for Cleveland Point. They have 3 options on there web site and are looking for public expressions about them.

Only 1 design option continues vehicle access to the boat ramp and ring road around the point. All the others do is provide nice parking for the Lighthouse resturant.

This will impact all our use of the area so please use the link provided and have your say on our public space.

I work at Cleveland and many of the locals want the ring road gone and a lot more open space. I like to drive to the point and have lunch but I can see their point

I just hope that everyone has their say and think about how people use this area.

Lots of people take their kids down there fishing and when they want to have a sleep they can crawl into the car.

Plus you can fish while keeping a eye on your car or just go down and have a feed like Horse.

Why is Council wasting tens of thousands of $$$ trying to change a decision made by the communit not that long ago? The commuity decision back then was to keep the current arrangement with the ring round around the end of the point. So why do they think that the general concensus will change just because someone filmed part of a movie there.

They do seem adamant to waste as much money as they can. The last thing I want is more movies being filmed there, do they think people like being fenced out of areas they pay their rates to enjoy?

Survey done, i like that fact you have to rate them 1, 2, 3 in terms of preference, again another skewed survey, ie a simple Yes, No No would get a real read of peoples views,

I think the Council just wants to get its own way thats why there has not been much said about this survey.

Typical of all the other systematic rehashes of every reserve in the shire.

anti car
anti fishing,
anti boating,
pro picknicker, walker and cycler.

only considers weekend use....and not the all day every day use.

and it is high budget.

the place just needs a clean up....not a complete redesign.

of course the locals want rid of the ring road.........they don't drive there.

AND

they are rich people who have baught there and are trying to change how the community us it for their own advantage.

redland council is concerned about money.....and big business. the environment is an excuse. and they use environmental issues to block the public from what is rightfully theirs.....which is a government that works for the people.

and cap in hand goes some environmentalists who work with council......do they get kickbacks from big business....?

so PH you recon they should upgrade the boat ramp and turn it all over to trailer parking

they have no money to do anything with the boat ramps so that is a no brainer.

I have not been to Cleveland Point since about 1985 so i don't really care what they do there
