I got your mobi. What do you do for a crust that allows you to take time out when you want? I thought it was only me, Tropicrows, Wagsonthewater and Cheech that could do that?

    Cheers,

    Re: Chasing Snapper?

    Hi Mark,
I've been having success out at Harry's in recent weeks (got a PB snapper two weeks running, first going 55cm and about 2.5kg, second going 78cm and 4.4kg last weekend).... My approach has been drifting well away from all the other boats.
Each time I have a rod out with bait, and one working a SP. Sadly, still haven't caught one on a SP. The 78cm came from a small flock of birds hitting the surface that I threw a 30gm Maniac lure into. Scored a chopper tailor on the second cast. Cut some fillets off the tailor and send a slab down. Within minutes I was on the 78cm Snap. From casting the first maniac towards the birds, to landing the the snapper was probably less than 15 minutes, and we didn't get another touch after that.
Anyway, last four trips have bought in keepers, and I've only been there five times.....
If I can do it, you can.
I'll also add that on our first successful trip out to harry's, my son scored his first two 'keeper' squire.... on refrozen squid from the week before! not matter what fresh bait or SPs I droppped down, I never got even a touch. Every single time he dropped this skanky refrozen squid, he got nailed.
Again, if we can do it, so can you!
    Cheers!

    Re: Chasing Snapper?

Getting a nice Snapper seems to be getting harder and harder in the Bay and I seem to be traveling further to be able to get them. With the latest news of water quality testing, I wonder if it isn't half obvious why... But I didn't say I have not been getting nice snapper, just more difficult

Looks like you have your bases covered judging from earlier replies, but keep me in mind, if you are willing to fish plastics (no stinky stuff used in my boat, that's the way I prefer) then you never know your luck. If you live on the Southside of Brisbane, even better!

    Re: Chasing Snapper?

forget it...won't happen..never caught one myself and given up on them. back to the bream for me...at least i can catch a feed of them.
2 years I have been fishing in the Bay since I have had the current boat and not one legal fish..waste of time and fuel as far as i am concerned...hence the sale of the boat.
Back to the Pin and Caloundra for me...easy to catch a feed at those places.

    Hey Mark,

    Just keep at it mate.

I went to Peel yesterday - only my second attempt at getting a snap on plastic & scored two. Not big (2kg) but I was pretty stoked.

There must still be some there if I can catch them.

If i had a rig like yours PinHead i would be slaying Snapper every weekend, both in the bay and offshore.

You must be cursed or too stuborn to learn the art of fishing with soft plastics

    Re: Chasing Snapper?

you can have the boat..it is for sale..on here and on boatpoint.

I am not interested in fishing with plastics...tried but don't like it plus the bloody things stink..they either go hard or mouldy..cheaper to buy bait.

If i had 65k then i would consider buying it, if you hate using gulp's because they stink why dont you try plastics like bass assasains, they dont stink or go hard or go mouldy...You dont even have to work soft plastics to catch Snapper, a lot of the ones i have caught have been with the rod in the holder and the plastic is just drifting around down near the bottom...I guess its hard to convert a stuborn old bait fisherman though.
