    Bait ball behind Green Island

    Hi Folks
I was doing a spot of fishing our behing green this morning and to my surprise birds started swarming around me, dropping into the water, just on sun up. I could see what I assume to be mackerel carving up the ball.

I got hit a few times on the SP but nothing landed except an undersize Squire.

I also floated a pilly out behind the boat which jagged a few squire too.

Nothing legal but not a bad mornings fishing.

Interestingly the water temp has gone up quite quickly. Last week, 19deg/c this week, 23deg/c.

They were working there when I was out there a couple of weeks ago also. They drifted closer to Mud for a while and my bait-runner with a floater on it screamed off once but no hook-up was made. 'Tis a reminder to me that I should start sticking a stinger in the tail when I put out floaters.

We did a tour of the whole northern bay from the sandhills this morning and the beacons and couldnt raise a scale, but those bloody northleries were blowin, and there was not a feather friend airborne the whole morning.
