Red fern country

What does red fern country come up like on your sounders.
Does it mainly grow in fairly flat slightly rubbly country. I pulled a bit of red, hard ,wiry and low growing bit of stuff the other day that actually looked a bit like fern. Does this sound like red fern ? The bottom wasnt all that remarkable on the sounder but then again my sounder is all that remarkable either

yep, you've pulled up fern. Soft rubbly bottom is what you are after, the fern rises up when the current is low and looks like a bit of weed coming off the bottom on your sounder.
