Would this rod be ok for plastics and float lining. If so what size reel would you match to it.
Thanks in advance
Phil

What kilo rating is it? If it's between 4-7kg then it will be fine. I've got one and use it for plastics. Also great for casting slugs. Any decent Shimano or Daiwa 3000 or 4000 will do the trick. I have a Daiwa Heartland 4000XA on mine.
The rod is 6 to 10 kg

I've got a 4-8kg starlo stix and it's not a bad rod. It's a bit of a brute and can take a fair bit of punishment. Just watch the guides, the inserts sometimes fall out.
I would spend a few more $ and look at the Starlo Tournament series. The maxspin is rated at 4-7kg and can work plastics for Snapper as well as double as a great rod for spinning with smaller slugs

Horse is onto a good point. Those Tournament series rods are fantastic. That said, if your open minded enough you could check out the Mojiko 4-7kg (might be 4-8kg) tournament spin rod. I've read reports that they use the same blank as the starlo tournament rods (IM-7), they have fuji guides (Titanium iirc), fuji reel seats and EVA grips.
My mate has one and it's a heck of a lot lighter, nicer to hold and easier to use than my starlo stix of the same rating. I'm using a 6-10kg baitcaster in the series and I've not touched my $200 dropshot tournament much since I got it.
Sooner or later someone will notice that in another thread that I've just landed a job with the big snake, who sell the Mojiko rods, but I havn't started there yet and my reccomendation is based on experience... Besides, you've got nothing to lose by checking them out. You can usually haggle the price down a bit from the $90 retail too.
I was also looking at the Dropshot III rods... They're 'only' IM6, but very nice in the hand. Definitely worth a look.
EDIT: Just a note.. Neither my 2-4kg or 4-7kg starlo stix have Fuji guides.
Matt.
I have a starlo stix tournament pro and its a nice rod for the price for SP's, teams up well with either the twinpower 2500 or the stradic 2500....
Mad-One....Yeh....mine is the same as Horse's. It's the Tournament Maxspin. Cracker of a rod for Snapper, Coral Trout, Trevally etc.
