    Need some help?

Hi guys, been over in Oz for 4 years now and love my fishing. I started out with a tinny and now have a 5m allison fisherman 5 which is a great boat. I try and get out most weekends from Vicky point and usually end up at SW rocks and the like, venture through the south passage to 35s and all the usuall spots.

Anybody intrested in a fishing trip please let me know as I am desperate to learn and as yet have never caught a snapper, been on a few charters which is great but need to get out and catch some decent fish on my boat....anyone intrested in sharing some knowledge for the use of the boat????

Just let me know, planning to get out over the weekend.

    Cheers,

    Mark

Hi Mark. Put your name down in the boaties and landbased register in the M & G section. You might get some interest in there if you want a deckie thats experienced to show you the ropes.

    Mate,

I heartily recommend you give Bill Corten a call, 3286 3647. He does an offshore fishing course which takes in most aspects of the activity, and is well taught. You get a theory, weather & knots session, then he takes you out there and shows you.

I did it, and it made the world of difference.

    Cheers,

    Tim

    Re: Need some help?

I feel your pain. Had the same problem when I moved to QLD from NSW. It took me a couple of years to change my fishing styles and Ideas to suit QLD fishing. (you just need to dumb it down a bit up here ) I have only just caught a reasonable snapper this year I have found the ground south of the south passage easier read with more distinctive ground than the lower lieing reefs of the 35s etc.I will PM you a couple of marks when I get a chance. The other thing I have had to adapt is floatlining. Best snapper technique for mine. And its nearly pelagic time so another change of tactics is required. The other thing I found helpful was joining a fishing club. Some of the people I have met in mine are great fisherman and have taught me the most. Good luck.
