I went for a run up to DI Point on Wednesday - first time for many months. Beach conditions were very good with a large build up of sand since the severe erosion earlier this year. The road over the point to Rainbow was good although there was a road crew working on the ramped area on the DI side. Access along Rainbow Beach was very difficult due to lots of fallen trees in the first kilometre of the beach. Even at low tide 4WD's were having to dodge around the trees between waves to get through and quite a few coming down from Rainbow were having a look and turning back rather than trying it. Pulled a few worms and fished a few holes in the top half of the beach without getting a single bite. Even tried around the rocks on the southern side of the point for a nil result. There's not much structure to the holes and gutters at the moment with only narrow and shallow water at low tide. Was a nice day on the beach but the fishing was non-existent. Might be better offshore.
