    Deck winch

Ok I have just got myself a deck winch the plan is

use it for large livies on the bottom for trout and cod 10-30mtrs

and bait rig for reds 45-60mtrs

    the questions

where on the boat would be the best place to mount it spigot mount, right down the back or up near the cab?

What are the best rigs to use for reds? number of hooks? size? type of leader? clips? rings?etc.

    any help would be great...
    thanks

    Re: Deck winch

    Hey mate.

We have only just started using one as well and we have found that the easiest way to mount it would be to fix it to a metal plate with a piece of pipe attached which slides into the rod holders that way you can put it where ever you want deppending on the current and wind, however it may not be the best if you have plastic ones... as for the reds we still haven't mannaged to get these yet we use it to get nannies up before the sharks get to them.. we generaly just run the same rig as we would on our other lines, single hook paternoster with 100lb mono and between a 8/0-10/0 deppending on bait and fish size. like i said we have only just started using it so there will deffinatly be people out there that can give you more help..
