Underwater Cameras

I bought some cheap copy type thing and I have to admit, it takes good pics above and underwater once you get used to changing the settings before you go underwater. Cost me $250 and has video. Gets knocked around a lot. Uses standard aa batteries (apparently all good toys do???) and is waterproof to 10 meters. It is made by a canon or olympic or someone but marketed as a cheaper brand under a different banner. I bought it at Betta Electrical in Gladstone 2 years ago. Make sure you wash the salt off after every use or the buttons get a bit sticky. Its for a boat.......It needs to be cheap as it will get wet and bashed...

Not sure where you are up to but I have a Panasonic DMC-FT1 and so far it has been great. Haven't done too much underwater (kids have taken it for a dip a few times) but for a point and click it is great. Pictures are clear, good in low light and video is exceptional, we used it on a jet boat ride last holidays, and it's good not having to worry about it getting wet.

Probably any decent brand is just as good though,

I ended up splashing out (pardon the pun) on the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FT-1.....got it from Oseas landed to my door with 8gb card and some extras for $380.00.

I have been extremely happy with it so far...tested it out in the pool today with the kids...takes a great photo. highly reccommend it to anyone thats looking for underwater camera.

We have now had 3 of the olympus waterproof cameras now and in our opinion have taken awesome photos/videos both in, under and out of water... The only reasons we updated was to get higher resolutions and to hand down old one to other family member...... We did have one that got a leak due to a hair getting caughtin a seal,,,,,, and I took it to the local repairer whom got a replacement one in 2 days only for no cost..... We will be sticking with the olympus for a compact and are looking at getting a SLR for better quality / landscape / portrait shots ... has to be remembered that you cant compare a $3-400 camera against a $1-3K SLR ... like comparing a Kevlacat against a polycraft

I'm actually going to buy this one for work and see how it performs before handing over my own hard earned

I will pick it up from the Goldy for $399.00
