Both charters at Rainbow beach (Keely Rose and Baitrunner) have been catching snapper to 7kg and good pearlies. Both charters use bait but if you go on "Keely Rose" the skipper and Frank the deckie will give lessons on using plastics on light line and rods. Only certain plastics work but Frank and I have cleaned out all the retail outlets in Brisbane of these certain plastics LOL
The snapper usually hang around up there until December.

hello tintin i like to use 7inch nuclear chicken in about 80/90m with a weight of about 1.5oz tt jigheads drop to the bottom in free spool lift chicken about 2m and pull a light drag leave the rod and dont touch it they will slam the chickens if about.
if there is big run put the light gear away in deep water.
cheers mark
cheers mate i have plenty of nuke chicks and a few other colors in the 5in and 7in. so will definately give them a crack

Fished on Baitrunner last Wednesday for bag of mostly snapper, couple cobes, grass sweetlip and moses. 5" gulps were working for the snapper as well as whole and fillets of yakkas and slimies. Fair bit of run on the day but still not a bad day.
Jeff.
Quality is still delivering long after you have forgotten the price.
thanks for the repot bundy much appreciated
