What size bilge pump - 4.1m tinny?

lokking at getting a bilge pump for under the floor of my new tinnie.
What size is considered adequate?
Is Rule the only brand to trust or are others just as good?

personally I like the rule, the only pump that has never failed me.

I have a 360gph pump, but don't cross any bars, and don't really venture out in rough weather. It's adequate for what I require, however, I also carry a second 360gph pump as part of my portable live bait tank kit, which I can remove quite easily and put under the floor in rougher weather. I have a 4.8m tinny.

I like Johnson pumps because you can change the cartridge if the pump fails and you still have the base there .
I would use a 1000 g pump if I was you, the bigger the better really, or use 2X 500.

I have 3 in my trophy, all auto's, 2 of them with overide switches, to save them all come on at the same time I have them at different heights, one al low as possible and the others a little heigher.

I depends on where you are fishing and the likehood of getting a boat full of water. IMO better to be to big rather than to small. Get the biggest one that fits into the space provided, when you are trying the empty the boat of water in am emergency, you will be wishing the pump was bigger.
I only use Rule pumps

I have a sahara 750 gph auto with a manual overide in my 4.5 and i test it a couple of times a year with a garden hose in the driveway when i get home ,i have had no issues in 5 yrs with this pump . I have it in my 4.5mt bluefin ...matt

a 360 and even a 500glph rule wont keep up with a 20mm skin fitting busting off

a 360 is only 22l per minute minus any loss from bends outlets and head height
my maths may be slightly out but should be close

a 10l bucket i recon youd get a swing ever 5 second so or so

I have a 500GPH in my 3.9 meter tinnie, this pumps water out almost as fast as the hose puts it in. Which really isn't that fast.

If I was looking for something to use to bail out the boat due to a hole etc I would be thinking of a 2500GHP of 2.

That will cost you some though.

What I have is fine for getting rain out or when I kick over the live bait bucket etc.

My 460 runabout came fitted with a rule 1100gph as standard. I can't see a lot of sense fitting anything less to get water out in a hurry. I'm fitting another shortly.

The bigger the better. If you are in a situation where you cop a wave over the back, you obviously want to get it out ASAP! I fitted a Rule 800GPH in my last 4.35 Hornet Trophy as it was the largest pimp i could find at the time with a 3/4" outlet.
Johnson now do an auto pump at 1000GPH with a 3/4 fitting which is what i will be installing next.

A scared man with a bucket is probably one of the best pumps you will find.

i use rule because its a proven product, not to say there arnt any better out there, its a 1000gph. i agree that the bigger the better and on the flip side of that, the bigger the more power consumption. the idea of two pumps running on different switches will reduce the power consumption and yet give extra pump power when needed. food for thought.
