I'm going over today for the weekend. Can anyone who has been there recently tell me how soft/hard the sand is and what are the best places to go. Our accomodation is sorted.

More like drinkin and relaxin Scott. Home Sunday afternoon.
What does the barge cost you now? Not a cheap weekend?
Scott what is the fish with the mo hawk and stripped head in the clip?
Most of my Money is spent on Booze and Fishin. The Rest is just Wasted!
To The Shed.............
Barge is about $200, plus the $40 for the vehicle permit.
Honeymoon bay and north point are nice, and Blue lagoon.
Sand is probably soft given lack of rain.
I don't really care how much it costs. It's my gf's birthday and I'm glad I am here to celebrate it with her. I arrived home lunch time yesterday after working away for 5 weeks. My cousin lost his wife last week to cancer. She was 39. Far to many people take life for granted. Live each day as if it was your last.
The barge cost $220 + $38.25 for the driving permit. If I had a boat then it wouldn't cost as much. There's no such thing as a cheap holiday anyway or anywhere.
Enjoy your weekend...as I'm going to enjoy mine.
Make sure you take ribbed condoms. You need traction over there.

Carbon Really Ain't Pollution.
timiboy, your a bad boy, but I agree in that soft sand the more tracton the better.
Wags when are we gonna, meet this girl. Must be time for a BBQ ???????
To answer the original question, if you can poke a stick into the sand it's soft, if you can't it's rock. Simple really !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Maturity is not when we start speaking BIG things,it is when we start understanding small things
