Boat Latch Fiasco on ABC's New Inventors

I would not move the boat, trailer or car until the safety chain was on.
One failure in hooking and the boats on the ramp.

I wonder why they powered the outboard whilst the car was pulling out of the water??

It's at Sandy Point in Vic. And there's no ramp, just, as the name suggests, sand ,in the inlet. Apparently it gets pretty soft and the trailer will sink into the sand merely under its own weight if you hang about for more than a few seconds. So I'm guessing these guys know from experience that the extra thrust would help get them out of the water. (King off the road or not!!!)

Even if the boat did come off the trailer, they'd just have to wait on the sandbank a few hours for the tide to come in and they'd be refloated.

Thats a product called boatcatch...made by an ab' diver (hence the Edencraft). It uses a hd latch with string (string for the launching - take it to the boat and give it a yank when ready for the jaws to let go). But for a boat that size and wieght its a $600 experience!!! I have just set up a second safety chain with a hd stainless snap lock and a bit of slack to make it easier and quicker for me to hitch the safety even if the boat is not full on (on a drive on situation) and move up the ramp in safety and then I can winch the last little bit and stick on the main safety chain with a u-boat at the end.

FWIW..I have used a catch-on like the picture posted in this thread since 2004. Great product.

I might grab on of those Snapper ones for my new boat though.
