lorella springs station

Hello all,

Has anyone been to Lorella Springs Station in the NT, and if so, what is the track like from the h/stead to Rosie Ck fish camp?

We were to have 5 days there on the way out from Limmen last year but after being told at the homestead the camp was another 6 hrs and the fact you had a rock bar to drag / carry your boat over at any less than half tide we didn't bother. ( the info had changed from several phone calls to arrival) We head off to Limmen again on Friday if your up there to fish it's hard to beat. Cheers Brad

Do you mean the Limmen Bight Fishing Camp, and if so, what is it like and what is the better time of the year to be there...we are not long back from the Gulf country and were repeatedly told it is better to be there just before or just after the wet...does it make much difference if further up in the Territory?

Mate, first time we tried to time "the run off' and got bomed by cyclone Monica. Limmen dosn't have the traditional run off as some other NT /WA rivers. IMHO right now, just before the build up is the go. Yes Limmen fishing camp, just packed the car / boat and off at 4am. Fishin n beers Monday, don't get much better!

We fished Lorella Springs Rosie Creek last year May and were first in after the wet. The track down to Rosie Creek was very ordinary but with care negotiable, at two crossings we needed the winch. It is 80ks. from the homestead to the fishing camp such as it was at Rosie creek it took us a full day.
The first 5ks of the creek there are numerous rock bars but can be negotiated with care at all tides then clear water all the way to the mouth WHERE THE FISHING IS TO DIE FOR. We were fishing with 3 in the boat and at times had three large fish hooked of all varieties. The mud crabs were huge as long as you could beat the crocs and cod to the pots.
I think the managers have changed since we were there but the price was well worth it.

Were you towing anything when you negotiated the track, and were there any steep sections? I presume the crossings you mention are creeks?

Hi. Ian.
Yes we were towing a camper trailer and the othe car a boat, both crossings we were hung up on were creek one on the way out and the other on the way back, both times we had to use the winch.
There are no really steep areas just a fair amount of creek crossings that take time to negotiate.
